Many people sew for decades without ever learning how to properly wind a bobbin, clean their machine, or maintain it—and those skills are critical for smooth, frustration free sewing.

This is one of the most valuable classes we offer, and it sets you up for success in every project that follows.

• Thread your machine correctly

• Wind and insert your bobbin the right way

• Clean, oil, and maintain your machine

• Change needles and presser feet

• Choose the right threads

• Troubleshoot common issues

• Practice sewing so you can build comfort and control before moving into project based classes.
  
  * You’ll also learn the anatomy of your sewing machine and the essential terminology every sewist needs. Understanding the correct verbiage for parts, functions, and common issues will make troubleshooting easier and help you communicate clearly when seeking support. By the end of class, you’ll feel confident identifying components, describing problems, and having a better understanding on how your machine works.
  

This class is required before enrolling in any of our beginner project classes—because once you know your machine, everything else becomes easier.

What to Bring

• Sewing machine with power cord & foot pedal

• Bobbins for your machine — This is critical. Every machine model uses a specific bobbin type, and using the wrong one can cause skipped stitches, tension issues, or damage. If you arrive with incorrect bobbins, our instructor will require you to purchase the correct ones to ensure proper machine performance.
